In today's world, food waste has become a serious global issue with both environmental and economic implications. Food and beverage establishments contribute significantly to the unnecessary waste of edible goods. Restaurants, hotels, cafes, and supermarkets are key sources of this food waste due to reasons such as improper inventory management, discarding products approaching expiration dates, and disposing of leftovers on plates. This not only increases the costs for businesses but also leads to the unnecessary depletion of natural resources. The document analysis method was employed in the research to identify applications developed worldwide to reduce and prevent food waste. As a result of the research, 22 initiatives were identified, with 15 of them being global and 6 implemented in Turkey. These initiatives are believed to be effective in reducing food waste. It is crucial to raise awareness among consumers about such initiatives and garner their support to contribute to the reduction of waste
Barış DemirciBerkay Çal
